Well folks it has been about a week’s worth of hard fought battles, but we’ve won the war! Our new computers are up, running smoothly, and we’re back to normal!
Now for most people, it simply requires moving over some files or data to make sure you’re not losing anything, and maybe reinstalling your printer software, so maybe an afternoon’s work. Unfortunately, or fortunately depending on how you look at it, we have many other programs to install and reconfigure, a network to rebuild and insure it works without errors, and adding in additional components into our new computers to run other equipment that we have…..one of which failed and crapped out in the midst of it all. But truly, no complaints about it, and happy that we’re done!
I also wanted to share a little tip for those of you on Windows 7 or wanting to upgrade to it. There is this very helpful little program that they built into Windows 7 called Windows Easy Transfer (just type that into your Windows Search and the program will come up for you.) You simply start up this program on both your old and new computers, answer a few questions, and then plug in a USB cable to connect the computers(need a special one from Belkin if both computers are not running Windows 7, so you get a disc with this program on it) and it automatically transfers all of your profile data, saved data and folders, etc. It can take a bit of time to do, depending on the amount of info you have on your computer, but it does it all for you! Just thought I’d share, because this made our upgrade immensely easier!!
We hope that you are enjoying the Christmas Season, with no computer problems and wish you all of you the best in this most joyous of Seasons!!
